My Small Contributions to Peace

By Nahum Wengrov

Living in one of the principal comabatant nations the Middle East brings me to the forefront of the Isralei-Arab conflict. Being a Jewish, Israeli citizen, allows me to vote and express my opinions about the conflict and get people to hear and read, especially those who decide the stuff that matters, decisions that often decide people\’s lives and deaths.

I’ve been involved in peace efforts for about 20 years now. I started by writing letters and faxes to politicians in power about human rights infringements and human beings in distress from the “enemy” side, od whose plight I kept myself informed — first by reading my local newspapers, and later via the Internet.

I now write a blog on the net, promoting peace efforts whenever I can. I lately wrote to the Israeli Water Bureau about our local Water shortage and how it is affecting the ordinary human being living in the Terriroties Occupied by us, and how we are violating our legal and moral duty of supplying them with the most vital commodity without which no life can exist.

That said, I strongly believe (and that belief is supported by my own 40+ years’ experience), that though we should and must do our own shareof work, the final outcome is in the sole power of a Higher Cause, to whom I pray regularly — about Peace in the region and in the world, as well as about any other matters that concern me or my fellow human beings.
