It is estimated that there are more than 400 people in the United States who are older than 110 years old, which is the benchmark for being a supercentenarian. But the study could only verify 341 supercentenarians. In the U.S., nine out of 10 supercentenarians are women, 15 percent are African American and the top three states where confirmed supercentenarians were born are New York, Texas, and Pennsylvania, respectively.
