US Open tennis action Friday features women's semifinals

US Open action on Friday has the women's semifinals. The finals are scheduled for Saturday night. The men will play their semifinal matches Saturday at the US Open.

Friday afternoon, it's ladies first in semifinal action at the U.S. Open tennis championships in New York. First up will be top seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark facing Russia's Vera Zvonareva.

Later in the day, women's defending champion and second seed Kim Clijsters meets the lone remaining American in the tournament, third seed Venus Williams. The two former champions have played each other a dozen times since 2001. The match record stands at 6-all. The ladies final will be Saturday night.

On Saturday, the men take over the Arthur Ashe Stadium court for their semifinal matches. Top-seeded Rafael Nadal meets Russian Mikhail Youzhny on one side of the men's draw. Former five-time US Open champ Roger Federer takes on third seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the other semifinal.
