Straight

A poem.

Straight through
a wire fence
this bold
blackbird
with a shiny
indigo neck
steps neatly
wings tucked
behind his back
eyes bright quick
head jabbing
left right
like a lawyer
trying to decide
wrong from right
with hunger
the only motive.
R. Steve Benson
