Senses & Seasons (for Willow)
A poem.
SENSES & SEASONS (for Willow)
The black dog understands
that the world is on edge.
Every sense prickles with energy
as the wind shuffles clouds,
decks of gray and white,
splatters rain; then springs the sun.
Sharp ears, sharp nose, know
that day is perched
like a nervous bird;
a world of so many layers:
Scents of autumn, summer's remnants,
all sliding subtly into winter. – B.R. Strahan
