3. The Sting (1973)
Set in 1936 and pairing Redford with Paul Newman "The Sting" follows two grifters who seek to con a Chicago mob boss, played by Robert Shaw.
In addition to winning seven Oscars, the film's score helped revive the work of ragtime composer Scott Joplin.
