Pinch mums

Pinch an inch or two off the tips of the stems of your chrysanthemum plants to make them grow more bushy and to prevent them from blooming in summer – when many flowers blossom – instead of fall, when you really need the color. In warm climates you can do this biweekly through the last week of July. In colder areas, stop pinching about July 4.
