Japan mourns Tama, feline stationmaster and national icon

Tama, the cat appointed stationmaster by a struggling Japanese railway, became a major tourist attraction, turning the tide for the railway and becoming credited with contributing  $8.9 million to the local economy.

Tama the stationmaster, Japan's feline star of a struggling local railway, was mourned by company officials and fans and elevated into a goddess at a funeral Sunday.
