The local fire department helped the group remove 50 of the babies who had fallen into a storm drain, attracted by the lights of a nearby parking structure. A moray eel is shown here. Morays rest in darker crevices during the day and are nocturnal predators. Morays are generally patterned, and can be camoflauged even inside the mouth, where they have large teeth and wide jaws, which allows them to grasp their prey and restrain it. NEWSCOM

Puffer fish are very maneuverable, but slow fish, and are equipped with a defense mechanism that allows them to inflate rapidly. They fill elastic stomachs with water, making them seem bigger. The puffers are also covered in small spines, which protrude when they puff. Puffer fish are the second most poisonous vertebrate in the world, bedhind a Golden Poison Frog. The skin and certain internal organs of the fish are highly toxic to humans. NEWSCOM
Orange sea anemone are seen in the Seward Aquarium in Alaska. The glowing tube is the body of the creature, and the bouquet of tentacles is lined with nematocysts, or venemous cells, used to seize prey. NEWSCOM

A group of Krill, small, shrimp-like marine invertebrates, are seen here. Krill are primarily food for baleen whales, manta rays, whale sharks, crabeater seals, and other seals, as well as some seabird species. They are found in oceans all over the world. NEWSCOM

Manta rays are the largest of the rays and are found throughout tropical waters around the world, mostly around coral reefs. The largest specimen was recorded at 25 feet across and weighing about 5,000 pounds. Mantas are known to be curious animals and often swim with scuba divers.
