Volunteers at the Circle D Wildlife Refuge in Vicksburg, Mich. feed a mixture containing charcoal to a goose to help it digest oil on July 27. The goose was one of twelve that were brought to the refuge. Crews were working Tuesday to contain and clean up more than 800,000 gallons of oil that poured into a creek and flowed into the Kalamazoo River in southern Michigan, coating birds and fish.
