AVATAR: James Cameron's epic science fiction adventure movie, released on Dec. 18, 2009 has been nominated for several best picture and several other categories, including, Art Direction, Cinematography, Directing, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects. In the film's fictional future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture.
