In the wake of widespread corruption scandals involving FIFA, two of the most powerful men in the sport have lost their clout, as they serve bans from soccer-related activities while they are being investigated. With former FIFA president Sepp Blatter out of the top spot, a new figure has risen to the seat of secretary general. Last June, Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura was appointed to the position, becoming the first woman and non-European to hold an executive post at soccer's governing organization.
