iPad 2 will be unveiled on March 2: report
iPad 2, or whatever Apple is calling its newest iPad computer, will be introduced early next month, according to one blogger.
Last time we checked in on the iPad 2 gossip mill, the probably-real tablet device had already entered production. Now comes news that Apple could unveil the iPad 2 as soon as March 2 – around the same time of year that Apple took the wraps off the original iPad. This news comes courtesy of Kara Swisher at the Wall Street Journal, who cites several anonymous sources familiar with the iPad 2 roll-out.Skip to next paragraph

"Analysts expect the iPad 2 to be thinner than its predecessor and feature an improved display," Swisher writes on the All Things Digital blog, "as well as front-facing camera and Facetime video chat support. And some reports suggest it will be powered by one of Qualcomm’s multimode chips and will run on both GSM and CDMA-based networks around the world."

Translation: The iPad 2 – and again, the computer will likely get a different name than iPad 2 – will work on data networks outside of the US and on both of America's biggest carriers – AT&T and Verizon. Also cool is the idea that the iPad, not exactly a chunky machine, will get even slimmer. Of course, as Swisher notes, one of the biggest questions surrounding the iPad 2 launch is whether Steve Jobs will be on hand to introduce his newest gadget.
