Some call today's Apple announcement the 'annual iPod event,' the 'music keynote,' or even the launch of a new Apple TV.

Here we go again. It's Apple announcement day, one of those few times each year when CEO Steve Jobs takes the stage and performs what are perhaps America's best infomercials.

Apple will kick-start the Sept. 1 music event at 10 a.m. Pacific time, 1 p.m. Eastern.
As always, Apple fans have an inkling of what Mr. Jobs will unveil today, but the specifics remain a mystery.
Most analysts have their money on new iPods – perhaps a touch screen iPod Nano or an iPod Touch with a camera.
Maybe we'll also hear about what Apple has in store for Lala, the subscription music service that it bought months ago.
