Legendary TV funnyman Soupy Sales died yesterday in New York. The comedian could be most well-known for his involvement in more than 20,000 flying pies.

Well, that might be the first thing that people recall when they think of Soupy Sales. The legendary TV funnyman passed on yesterday in New York and leaves behind a career of great stories, much laughter, and yes – pies in the face.
Estimates are that Soupy was involved in more than 20,000 pies thrown – either as the thrower or the recipient. We're not sure who had the job of counting all those instances.
Sure, there's far more to his career than hurling baked pastries into people's mugs. He appeared on TV thousands of times, was a guest host for The Tonight Show, had a very successful program of his own, and even had a couple top-ten albums. You can read his full obituary here.
But the pie-in-the-face – that was Soupy's main schtick. Big-time A-listers like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. would line up to get hit by one.
