Much-awaited video game 'Fable III' revealed – in the Weddings section

The New York Times recently ran a wedding announcement for Amy E. Gilbert and Joshua Samuels Atkins. 'Mr. Atkins, 34, is the lead game designer for Fable III, a video game series produced by Lionhead Studios in Guildford, England,' the announcement read. The problem? That game has not yet been officially unveiled.

Well, someone can't keep a secret.

Last weekend, The New York Times published a wedding announcement for Amy E. Gilbert and Joshua Samuels Atkins, a couple wed on Sunday in San Francisco. The bride is studying for a Ph.D. in molecular medicine in London; the groom is a video game designer. And the Times probably should have left it at that.

Instead, the family member or friend who submitted the details of the marriage added in this little gem: "Mr. Atkins, 34, is the lead game designer for Fable III, a video game series produced by Lionhead Studios in Guildford, England." The problem? "Fable III," the much-awaited follow-up to 2008's "Fable II," hasn't been officially unveiled. In fact, Lionhead Studio has gone out of its way to deny the existence of "Fable III."

Oops.

Of course, as the fine folks over at Gamespot note, it could all just be an accident. The Times "makes a point of noting in its guidelines for submitting a wedding announcement for publication that 'submissions are rewritten, fact-checked and edited according to the standards of The Times,' " one blogger notes. "As such, it is possible that The Times that simply made a typo, adding an extra 'I' onto 'Fable II.'"

Interestingly, this isn't the first time that someone purportedly involved with "Fable III" has accidentally blurted out news of the game's arrival. After attending the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards ceremony last March, television personality signed on to his Twitter account, and spilled the beans. "Goodnight all. Must go to bed. Got asked to do voice in Fable 3 tonight. Subarashi. Oyasuminasia. Woss out," he wrote.
