Safety recall on iPhone chargers

The recall affects the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and 10 Latin American countries.

Customers can trade in the faulty Ultracompact USB Power Adapters at Apple stores or order replacements free of charge through the company’s website.

“We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported,” Apple says in its statement.

The replacement adapters will not be available until Oct. 10. In the meantime, Apple suggests that 3G owners set aside the attachment and recharge their iPhones by connecting them straight to a computer.
