3. Gumbasia (1955)

Art Clokey created "Gumbasia," whose title is an homage to the 1940 Disney film, "Fantasia," while studying at the University of Southern California under Serbian filmmaker Slavko Vorkapić.

Gumbasia so impressed 20th Century Fox producer Sam Engel that Fox decided to fund Clokey's 15-minute short, "Gumby Goes to the Moon," which marked the first appearance of the affable green character. Clokey would go on to create Gumby shorts for "The Howdy Doody Show."
