'Toy Story 3' tops Adam Sandler and Tom Cruise with $59 million

'Toy Story 3' was the big winner at the box office last weekend. The animated film made $59.3 million, followed by 'Grown Ups.'

Fans are extending their play time with "Toy Story 3," which remained the No. 1 movie with $59.3 million in its second weekend.

Adam Sandler's comedy, "Grown Ups," debuted strongly in second place with $40.5 million. Tom Cruise's action comedy "Knight and Day" opened a distant third with $20.1 million.

The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Hollywood.com are:
