Melting glaciers in the Indian Himalayas are threatening the existence of the Ladakh community.  Feeling the early effects of global warming, Ladakhis are experimenting with artificial glaciers. This audio slide show by Mary Knox Merrill showcases these efforts to counteract diminished crop yields and explores the future of irrigation in the region.
