Is America ready for a flood of new vets?

A recent Monitor cover story looked at the challenges facing the "surge" of US soldiers returning home from the war in Iraq. As reporter Michael B. Farrell wrote:

"If one gauge of a nation's humanity is how it treats its returning soldiers, then the US is about to face a significant test. Experts say the country is woefully unprepared to handle it."
