Ranked last year as the richest city in the US, this 53-square-mile enclave is known for beautiful beaches, good surfing, the largest recreational boat harbor on the West Coast, and home to several companies, including Conexant, PIMCO, and the world’s largest Mercedes-Benz dealership. Residents include star athletes and celebrities, such as Kobe Bryant and Chuck Norris. Prices have softened, but not to the degree that many communities have, says Rick Jenkins, regional vice president of Orange County and desert regions for Coldwell Banker. "I've grown up here along the coast and when I see people come from all over the world to visit us here, it speaks to why I'm here."
