Father's Day gifts may generate a little more boost to the economy this year. Americans will spend an average $106.49, slightly according to a survey by the National Retail Federation. Here are five unusual Father’s Day gifts for less than $25, which could make June 19 especially memorable.

This gift basket for dads, sold at the supermarket chain Safeway in 2009, includes gadgets, candy, and a magazine. Baskets make great Father’s Day gifts and can be themed to Dad's interests or filled with salty treats. (SAFEWAY/PRN/Newscom/File )

Flower and gift basket companies that traditionally rake it in on Mother’s Day have come up with some ideas for Dad, too. While Mom might be happy with a simple bouquet of flowers, appropriate Father's Day gifts might revolve around snacks, preferably the salty variety, especially if they’re fishing- or sports-themed. 1-800-FLOWERS has one Father’s Day gift under $25: candy bar pretzels. At OhNuts.com, $25 will buy Dad a basketball, soccer ball, or football bowl of nuts. (Also in the Father’s Day basket section: pistachios in a Christmas-tree bag. But hey, for $15.95 for a pound a half, you can pass them off as any old evergreen.)
