Reader recommendation: Life After Life

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

I've become a fan of Kate Atkinson's skilled writing, well-crafted plots, and clever humor. Her latest book Life After Life has all these qualities with a unique premise: What if you could relive your life, making different choices at key points? Ursula Todd has this gift, as throughout the book she dies in a variety of ways but each time is able to hit "reset" and live a slightly – or very – different life. Similar to "It's a Wonderful Life" but with more serious issues and multiple permutations, this book provides much material for thought and discussion.
