Reader recommendation: Road to Victory
Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.
It took me three months to get through Road to Victory by Martin Gilbert, which details the day-to-day events in the life of Sir Winston Churchill from 1941-1945. Books about any war can be depressing, but this was fascinating and wonderfully uplifting, even humorous with recollections and diary entries from Churchill's family, friends, and colleagues who observed his brilliant leadership and determination in the face of Nazi tyranny. This truly was "his finest hour".
