Reader recommendation: The Art of Racing in the Rain
Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein is a bittersweet tale of devotion between Enzo, a dog, and Denny, his racecar-driving owner, told from Enzo's point of view. Enzo's love for Denny has no bounds and, like his master, he enjoys being driven "faster and faster.'' Enzo dreams of someday passing from this life, and returning as a human. His wish takes on an unusual twist and turn, unlike that of any race track, in this poignant, yet amusing, novel.
