Reader recommendation: Voices from the Peace Corps
Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.
In Voices from the Peace Corps, Angene and Jack Wilson pass on stories gleaned from 100 interviews with Peace Corps volunteers from Kentucky spanning all five Peace Corps decades. Reading it, I was struck by the triple effect the Peace Corps has had: on the cultures where volunteers served, on the volunteers' lives, and on Americans' understanding of the wider world. This excellent book should further that understanding.
