Reader recommendation: The Virginian
Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.
I just finished Owen Wister's The Virginian and found it delightful. It depicts the West as it was for a short period in a remarkable way. The hero is all a real hero should be – courageous, loyal, honest, just, responsible, and kind of vulnerable in the sweetest way. The love story is refreshing and the narrator is so honestly believable. Now I wish a new screenplay would be written that actually tells this story.
