Reader recommendation: Wise Ones of Mull

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

By Helen Theimer, Aurora, N.Y. / December 20, 2010

I have been rereading Wise Ones of Mull: A Gift of Vision by Helen Prentice and find myself again carried away to the 16th-century magical world of Scotland’s Isle of Mull and the stories of its Wise Ones who use their gifts of magic and vision for the good of their people. The heart of this novel, and of its heroines, shines through radiantly. This is not only an engrossing tale, it is a meditation on the nature of deep wisdom and true power. All in all it is a truly enchanting read.
