Reader recommendation: Mrs. Darcy and the Blue-Eyed Stranger

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

By Kelly Peticolas,Godfrey, Ill. / October 15, 2010

I am almost finished with Lee Smith's Mrs. Darcy and the Blue-Eyed Stranger, a collection of short stories. Each story is unique, funny and heart wrenching. It is amazing how one writer can have so many different characters and situations developed in her imagination. "Tongues of Fire," one of the 14 stories in this book, is definitely my favorite. I am anxious to read more from Lee Smith.
