I just finished Horse Soldiers by Doug Stanton. It describes the arrival of the first Special Forces troops in northern Afghanistan and how they worked with the CIA agents already there to defeat the Taliban. It reads like a sequel to First In by Gary Schroen, the story of the CIA agents who arrived in Afghanistan in the two weeks following 9-11.
