Sparked by love for the poetry of Jane Hirshfield, I picked up her book Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry, hoping for a glimpse into her writing process. What I took away was a waymark into the world of both awareness and intimacy; a sensuality that motivates all good poetry.
