I enjoyed True North, Elliot Merrick and Lawrence Millman’s book about winter trekking in Labrador, so much that I penciled in page numbers at the back of the book for ease in rereading how to find one’s way in a blizzard, build an exquisite Indian sled, do portage, and survive icy waterfalls. Reading a book like this makes me proud to be a person.
