Reader recommendation: The Entertainer

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

By

The Entertainer, by New Yorker writer Margaret Talbot, is an excellent book on many levels. Talbot weaves together the history of moviemaking from the silent era to almost current times, with the biography of her father, Lyle Talbot, movie actor but never quite a star. Talbot’s love for her father’s storytelling – which becomes hers – is evident.
