3. 'Gone Girl,' by Gillian Flynn
Author and former television critic Gillian Flynn delivers a super-twisty thriller in this story about Amy, a wife who disappears from a mansion in on the Mississippi just as she's preparing to celebrate her fifth wedding anniversary. Husband Nick seems the obvious suspect – although entries from Amy's diaries suggest that the situation may be far more complex. (Check out the Monitor's review here.)
