3. "The Finish: The Killing of Osama bin Laden," by Mark Bowden

Mark Bowden, author of "Black Hawk Down," tells the story of the mission that ended the life of Osama bin Laden in "The Finish: The Killing of Osama bin Laden." Compared with "No Easy Day," the recent account by one of the Navy SEALs present on that day, Bowden's account offers "more backstory," says Nelson. "It's an even-handed, well researched book" that relies on both named and unnamed sources and offers multiple viewpoints on the events of that day. Nelson calls it "spellbinding."
