John Forster, Dickens' closest friend and handpicked biographer, was the first to write about the celebrated author after his death. Forster's work relies heavily on excerpts of letters written between Forster and Dickens. This edition of Forster's biography also includes rarely seen photographs as well as more contemporary criticism and reviews of Dickens' work.
