3. 'The Help'
Kathryn Stockett's blockbuster 2009 novel about Southern matrons and their maids was the basis for the movie of the same name, which received nominations for Best Picture; (Best Actress) Viola Davis; and Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain).
