Who is Drake?

Dog owners Marcy and Rip Wilson are delighted with their mixed-breed dog, Drake, pictured here. They rescued him from an animal shelter near their home in Chevy Chase, Md., four years ago. The sign on his cage said he was a spaniel/Plott hound mix.

But the Wilsons were curious. Which dog breeds exactly had resulted in such a loyal, smart, and well-behaved pet? So they plunked down $65 for a new test that scans canine DNA. Can you guess the test results? (Answer below.)

A. Mostly springer spaniel, with some German shepherd and poodle.

B. Mostly border collie, with some Plott hound and Pekingese.

C. Mostly Siberian husky, with some Labrador retriever and cocker spaniel.

(Answer: C)
