Tubegazing: Windfall

Windfall (NBC, Thursdays, 10 p.m.) NBC's new drama about a group of 20 people who win big in the state lottery wants to be a cautionary tale for our times. Rather than solving anyone's problems, the shared pot of $386 million opens up a Pandora's box of legal, ethical, and romantic problems for an unlikely group of friends, lovers, and strangers. But really it's just an effort to cash in on the current trend toward big casts with lots of concurrent story lines and a group of young, energetic, and very good-looking actors (such as Luke Perry). Watch out, ABC - "Windfall" proves you don't need to be marooned on a remote South Sea island to be lost. Grade: B
