Red Eye (PG-13)

Wes Craven's "Red Eye" is such a war of nerves, it will have you eyeing your seatmate next time you board a plane. Rachel McAdams plays Lisa Reisert, a hotel manager who's on her way home to Miami following a funeral. Seated next to her on the flight is Jackson Rippner (Cillian Murphy), whom Lisa met earlier in the airport bar. Coincidence? (With a name like Jackson Rippner, I think not.) He informs Lisa that her father will be killed by the time the plane lands if she doesn't call her hotel and have the visiting secretary of homeland security moved to a room more conducive to his assassination. Fasten your seatbelt - the 85-minute runtime keeps things moving briskly, with only brief forays into implausibility. Extras: A no-fly zone: Included are a perfunctory director's commentary and making of, as well as a humorless "gag reel." (A few laughs would have been nice after this white knuckler.) Grade: B+
