She's still a toddler, so Annie Conlan eagerly anticipated opening the prize tucked into the takeout Happy Meal purchased at a McDonald's restaurant in Harlow, England. She was expecting a promotional toy based on the recently released Walt Disney animated movie "The Emperor's New Groove." It wasn't. Oh, there was a prize inside, all right - just not one that a small child would appreciate. Instead, it turned out to be the key to the fast-food outlet's safe, which ought to have been in a manager's pocket. Once the key was retrieved, staffers refunded the price of the meal and offered an alternative reward: certificates for four free ice creams.

Litany of school shootings in US has just grown lengthier

For the 17th time in the past four academic years, a public school in the US has been terrorized by one or more students with loaded guns. In most cases, these incidents have resulted in deaths and injuries to fellow students, teachers, or the shooters themselves. The following are dates and locations where the shootings have taken place:
