News In Brief

I DO. GOODBYE NOW

Taslim Anwar and her new husband exchanged wedding vows last weekend, even though he wasn't in the same room with her. In fact, he wasn't within 3,000 miles. How could this be, you ask? Answer: by telephone. The bride lives in eastern India. Jaki Imamm, the groom, is a guest worker in far-away Saudi Arabia. The ceremony, conducted by a Muslim cleric, was kept brief because of the expense of international long-distance charges.
