*How are the safety procedures set up?

*Is the camp accredited by the American Camping Association, and do the camp director's credentials include a degree and previous administration experience?

*There should be one counselor per eight campers. He or she should be well-versed in handling homesickness and behavioral problems.

*Ask for the percentage of counselors who return each year. A return rate lower than 40 percent is worth inquiring about.

*Can the camp provide you with the names of previous attendees who can tell you about their experiences?
