More temps move into full-time work

Temp-help workers in the US are finding permanent jobs in increasing numbers, according to a survey by the National Association of Temporary Workers (NATSS).

The survey said 4 out of 5 staffing firms reported that their clients have hired more temps in full-time positions last year than in 1997. The fastest growing temp-to-perm arrangements were in the office/clerical sector.

NATSS spokesman Timothy Brogan says 72 percent of temps move into full-time jobs within one year. In the first quarter of this year, about 2.69 million people were employed daily in temporary jobs, up from 2.59 million during the same period last year.
