Internet ambivalence

Internet stocks have taken a beating over the past few months. One barometer of this highly volatile sector - The Internet Stock Index - has been sliding downward since the beginning of April. But this measure of 50 Internet stocks now appears to have leveled off.

Meanwhile, blue-chip stocks on Wall Street continue to wobble in anticipation of an interest-rate hike. Federal Reserve policymakers are widely expected to raise short-term rates by 0.25 percent to 5 percent during a two-day meeting that begins tomorrow in Washington.
