There's a white moon sliver

wedged

in the night's black skin,

a soothing wound

to sky and eye

cradling the shards

of a broken day.

We love so much

what's too far for us to touch.

There's a bright moon sliver

in your eye

dancing

from yours to mine

wedged in blackness

clean and new

the infant slate of us.

We love so much

what's too near for us to touch.
