TELEVISION interviews during this year's GOP primaries feature the usual fare of disgruntled voters (is there another kind these days?) griping about the quality of the candidates running for president.
We disagree with the gripers. Whatever one may think of their individual platforms, the major candidates for the Republican nomination, as for the Democratic nomination in 1992, have proven themselves an intelligent, committed, and dedicated bunch.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank former Tennessee Gov. Lamar Alexander and Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar, both of whom withdrew Wednesday, for participating in the campaign. It's quality candidates like them who make democracy work.
