Rock Hall Mania in Cleveland

ELVIS has definitely not left the building. He's right there, and there, and over there, and there, and ....

Costume companies have enjoyed a run on Presley outfits as the city gears up for today's opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and tomorrow's inaugural concert (see TV listings, right).

There have also been special orders for costumes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elton John, Cher, the Beatles, and Janis Joplin.

Each of the estimated 15,000 hotel rooms in the Cleveland area is booked, leaving some people to find lodging up to 60 miles away, says the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland. And everybody needs wheels: ''Anything that moves is booked,'' says Richard Saponari, owner of Century Limousine.

* A Monitor report from Cleveland will appear next week.
