WORTH NOTING ON TV

* WEDNESDAY

`The Wizard of Oz' (CBS, 8-10:09 p.m.): It's b-a-a-ck - and I'm gl-a-a-d. The 1939 MGM musical has been aired on network television every year but three since 1956 - probably the only film that has.

It made a star of actress Judy Garland, whom MGM settled for when they couldn't get Shirley Temple for the lead. Families wait for it - if only to hear Garland sing ``Over the Rainbow'' - and view it as if for the first time.

Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, and Bert Lahr would be unforgettable in their roles even if they didn't reappear annually. So would the Oscar-winning score by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. (Yip) Harburg.

* THURSDAY

Thanksgiving Day parades (CBS and NBC, 9 a.m. to noon, EDT): In its 35th annual broadcast of these events, CBS will offer samplings of parades from Hawaii, Toronto, Disneyland, and New York. The show will be hosted by actress Tyne Daly and sports broadcaster Jim Nantz.

NBC's telecast, hosted by Katie Couric and Willard Scott of NBC News's ``Today,'' will stick with New York's traditional Macy's parade, the 68th annual edition of the event and the 43rd live airing of it by NBC.

ABC is opting out of the festivities.

* FRIDAY

Disney's Greatest Hits on Ice (CBS, 8 -10 p.m.): A little singing, a lot of skating, and some Disney animation clips - they're all part of the format of this entertainment special produced for the holidays with a family viewership in mind - and maybe a plug for Disney.

To familiar music from Disney films, skaters re-enact stories from Disney films. The impressive roster includes Nancy Kerrigan, Katarina Witt, Scott Hamilton, Michelle Kwan, Paul Wylie, Yuka Sato, and some duos: Marina Klimova & Sergei Ponomarenko, Maia Usova & Alexander Zhulin, and Ekatarina Gordeeva & Sergei Grinkov.
